Intro

I'm quitting today and I'm going to man up and deal with it. I'm 32 yo, been dipping since about 19 yo and smoked cigs for a year before that. Basically, had nicotine in my system for 14 years (quit once for 8 days). I'm just done allowing this to control my life. I'm going to be honest, I'm scared. A lot of comforts in my life have been built around having a dip in. I work out a lot and recently started re-engaging in the Christian church body, but I also enjoy sitting around watching netflix, reading articles online, and sometimes playing video games. All things that are more enjoyable with a dip in. I dip Copenhagen pouches, but I double-up on the bottom most times. I've noticed some gum decay recently and it's started to freak me out a bit. Not married, no kids, and no relationship. It has definitely damaged many in the past, but was never a deal breaker. I'm doing this for myself and my future family. This site appears to be a great source of support so I welcome it all.

Little more about me. I work in IT. Electrical engineer by study, but never really got into the professional side of the field. I came out of school in 2009 when the economy sucked and never got a chance really. I'm a certified Cisco Systems technician and work mostly with routers and switches. I love it though. It is definitely my long term career. Tobacco use for me has easily given me an inferiority complex over the years and not allowed me to reach my true potential. Ninja dipped at my current job for the last 2.5 years and spit into a coffee cup. I drive a work van around alone a lot so it's easy for me to just throw in a couple pouches and off to the next destination. That part will be a real test of willpower for me. It feels good to get the intro out of the way and on to conquer day 1. Someone please point me to the roll call page and my quit group. Thanks.
" When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise— in God I
trust and am not afraid."

~Psalms 56:3~

"But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will
not gratify the desires of the flesh."

~Galatians 5:16~

and pray for each other so that you may be
healed. The prayer of a righteous person is
powerful and effective."

Beast Welcome!!
Congratulations on your decision! Many of us here have used nicotine and chew as a crutch and to mask our other insecurities.
Quitting is hard work and there are many triggers that you will have to over come for the first week, months and years.
But we can help, post roll each and every day and it will change your life for the better

Beast, reading your into I was struck by how different our lives are, and how much they are the same. I'm alone in a car for extended periods of time too and that was my dipping time. Make sure you have some seed, gum or fake handy. Go head over to the March 2017 Pre-Hof group and post your promise early, every darn day. We're all in this together.

Welcome. Quitting is one of the hardest things you will do, but the freedom on the other side is very much worth the steep price.

As hard as quitting is, it is very simple.

Engage with your Quit Group (March '17), post roll early in the day every single day (Wake Up, Piss, Post Every Damn Day - WUPP EDD) grab some contact digits from your March quit brothers, and reach out when you are in crisis. Make yourself available to others in their crisis. Refuse to cave.

Posting roll is the backbone of the site - it is our promise to ourselves and the entire community to not use nicotine for the rest of the day. We quit one day at a time. You can do anything for one day, can't you?

This place and its method works if you buy in.

welcome ...baby steps day by day...I am proud to quit with you in the same group....day 18 here.
Drink plenty of water, keep exercising and it will get better...I still have many days ahead to look forward to being nicotine/tobacco free, and even though I was addicted it had terrible side effects - I have worked out and dieted all my life and this was a dark dirty secret that really messed up my health for a while ...gums teeth high BP rapid HR etc...

Take care and post roll

LOL, Beast it gets so much better that it is easy for us veteran quitters to forget how hellish day 1 and the early quit is. That being said:
Saw that you posted roll this morning :)
You're day 2 today since your last nicotine was yesterday.

Read everything on KTC, welcome center, intros, cancer stories, words of wisdom, HOF, HOL, everything.

Jump on live chat and ask for permission before you cave.

Drink lots of water

Stay away from caffeine and alcohol

Exercise

Print out cancer pics and the KTC contract to quit and wrap your cash and credit/debit cards in them

Fake dip, gum, seeds, atomic fireballs, a wad of fresh herbs, coffee grounds, a big dildo... anything that is nicotine free and you can stuff in your gob to take the edge off the oral fixation.

Jerk off

All these things can help get you through the day.
KTC works if you learn the quit plan, and work the quit plan. Everything you need to know is on KTC.
Quitting has been the hardest thing I have ever done, but soooo worth it. PM me if you need anything.
I could quit all by myself if I was stranded on an island without any nicotine...

Quitting the KTC way: Learn it, Live it; LOVE it!

"The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me." srans
