Well, no question in my mind that I am an absolute addict to this nicotine thing. It's been Gold River, Silver Creek, Copenhagen, Kodiak, Camels, Marlboro Lights, Levi Garret or Red Man for as long as I care to remember. When you lay awake at night knowing that you're killing yourself every day it's not a good feeling. When you're too weak as a human being to do what is right and stop killing yourself it is a sad narrative about your will power. Time to get smart, realize you need some assistance and seek out some help. Time to "grow up" and do the right thing. I have "quit" lots of times but this one is different. Can't play with this stuff because it doesn't work like that. Nothing will do but stop and stay stopped! Looking for help and resources when the guard gets let down. |

Outd00rs, Welcome. You've got half the battle in your back pocket already. You admit that you're an addict. Your addict brain will continually try and convince you that the one thing that will make it all better is another dip, smoke, or chew. Recognize that, and recognize that no matter how bad you crave, quitting nicotine has never actually killed anyone (least not that I can find through extensive interweb searches). Read as much as you can about how that insidious addiction works. Post your promise to abstain from ANY form of nicotine DAILY....earlier is better. HONOR that post..... REPEAT the process the following day. Build a network of accountability with your December quit brothers and sisters. Make that web so tight there is NO WAY you can fail. This place works, as long as you work it. Try to do it your own way at your own peril..... This site is replete with quitters who somehow think they're special. Special butterflies normally have short lifespans here. Again, welcome. I quit with you today. If you're here tomorrow, I'll quit with you then as well. |

Welcome Brother! I know that feeling...lying in bed wondering when your going to get that sore in your mouth that wont go away...knowing that your shaving time off your life and that you will eventually pay for it...it's a shitty feeling. But I know one thing...the minute you quit you start becoming a healthier person. Stay busy, exercise, drink water, do whatever it takes...it will be an uphill battle but you will survive if you utilize the tools given on this site. I look forward to seeing your progres; feel free to PM me if you ever need anything. -Dan -Day 72. |

Welcome! Man, I don't miss that up-all-night worrying feeling at all! I remember it vividly. Awful. Quitting is miserable, but not quitting is even worse. Listen to the "old guys" like Cavman and PAB and do exactly as they say. Today is my HOF date, and I owe it all to this great site and the kind and caring people on it. Give your number to everyone in your group and ask for theirs in return. Reach out to them and get to know them. This made all the difference for me. We've all got your back. Check your inbox. |

Outd00rs, welcome to KTC! All the good sh%# has been said ^^^ up there. You came to the right place for help and accountability! I also can remember those awful nights scared about what I was doing to myself. Quitting is one of the best things you could ever do for yourself. It seems so hard right now but you can do this, just one day at a time! FLLip. |

Checking back in with an update. Going on Day 118. The quit is going well but I got that little voice in the back of my head that knows it's still a house of cards and just a little breeze could bring it back down. ODAAT....!!! A couple of things that I heard when I first joined here but didn't really hear it were: 1. Get involved. All the Bad Ass Quitters say it and it damn sure makes a difference. 2. Get out of your comfort zone - Trade numbers and add to the support 3. Read and then read some more - I think I'm learning more by reading through what the new guys quitting are going through Things I'm going to work on coming up are: 1. Get off the fake - I've seen some of the ingredients folks use here and I've lifted some ideas for myself. Never thought I'd be packing Dunkin Donuts coffee grounds saturated with Tabasco in my lip. Whatever works right..... 2. Cut back on the drinking. I think based on my propensity to get wrapped up in things I may have stepped out of the nicotine world and started relying a bit to much on Mr Jack Daniels. On a good note, really realizing how the world turned around nicotine before. That isn't the case anymore. Hard to realize when you're in the clutches of the nic bitch the depths you'll go to to convince yourself everything is OK and it's not that bad. |
