Hello all. I just found this site and community. I'm 34 years old, married with 2 daughters, live in NJ (in case any of you guys are in the area) and have always played sports. I started dipping as a freshman baseball player at an elite athletic prep school. The high that it gave me from the tinniest pinch was amazing. I dipped constantly though high school. My junior and senior year I packed a lip in almost every class during class. At home I took extended showers and seemed to always have a "stomach ache" that kept me on the bowl for long periods of time.

Fast forward 20 years; I am married with 2 beautiful daughters who are 23 and 5 months old. I play a lot of golf and in 5 softball leagues. Dipping has always made me concentrate better doing these activities. My wife and family hate it. I helped nurse my sister to her passing 4 years ago from Cancer which started in her lungs from smoking. I quit for 6 months after that.

I didn't mean for me to quit on new years as a resolution. It just happened to fall on that date. I truly wanted it within. I saw a video of a young woman walking down the aisle with her brother at her wedding. The brother put together a tribute video of her father. It made me cry. It made me project years down the road and seeing that same disappointment in both my daughters eyes that their "Daddy" wasn't there to give them away...to be there for that special moment and all the others leading up to and after their wedding. It's when I realized that dipping was nothing but a selfish dirty habit.

Thanks for reading and sorry if I jumped around a lot.

Brian, welcome to the rest of your life as a free man, if you take in everything this site has to offer and follow it to a t. This is not a habit it is an addition!!!! Come to grips with the fact that you are an addict and that you have never quit only stopped for a period of time. You also need to dive in head first and read all you can on this site. Drink the coolaid. I am on day 617 today thanks to this program. I dipped 20+years over a can a day. If I can you can. Go to the welcome center and figure out how and why to post roll. We will quit with you ever day. Hell we will quit each and every second of the day of that's what it takes.

I use to think the same thing and I use to stuff my face with worm dirt everyday because I thought the shit 'helped' me do shit like play softball, or work, or mow the fucking yard, or golf, or watch football, or drink beer or......FUCK THAT.

Dip does not help you do anything. That is an addict talking and yes you are addicted to the drug nicotine.

There is nothing that DIP helps with except put your ass one step closer to the grave. Being an athlete you know deep down that shit is detrimental to your overall performance- the only reason you think it 'helps' you is because you've abused it so much that while you are going through withdrawals you are going to suffer. Think about that. You are relying on a chemically enhanced, cancer causing weed to "help" you.

What's the trade-off for this 'help'?

Read this (don't put your daughters or your wife through this because your addict brain is telling you that shit helps): http://www.killthecan.org/facts-figures/jenny-tom-kerns-story/

No one has ever said they regret quitting.

Quit. Own it. Post roll. Honor your word.

Listen to these guys^^^. Sounds like you are ready, but reading everything on KTC and living the plan will make quitting easier. I dipped that evil poison for 20 years also, and I have been free for 590 days thanks to the KTC quit plan. Jump in and chug the kool-aide and stop being a slave.
I could quit all by myself if I was stranded on an island without any nicotine...

Quitting the KTC way: Learn it, Live it; LOVE it!

"The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me." srans

What he said.

This shit has never helped you do a damn thing. " How can I quit now when the year end tournament is coming up in a month ? " That question sound familiar? I know I said it every time I thought about quitting when it still owned me. Get that bitch out of your system and re-wire your brain. I'll quit with you today
