Hello All, Had been reading a lot of the content here so figured I would post a quick intro. 30 years old, have been using nicotine in one form or another daily since I was about 17. I started with regular dip and then added cigarettes to the mix as well. A couple years ago I decided that I needed a "healthier" way of getting nicotine than smoking so I switched to snus and then from snus to nicotine gum which I'd been on for about a year. A week ago (Dec. 28th) I decided it was finally time to give up nicotine in general. It doesn't seem to be doing me any favors anymore and I think it contributes to anxiety I've been experiencing lately. I had always assumed it would be easy to just go from nicotine gum to regular gum but it certainly hasn't been. While on the gum I didn't really crave cigarettes or dip but since quitting I'm craving all of them again! Anyone else go from the gum to nothing? I found I wasn't really able to regular my usage or taper down on the gum so I went from 12 pieces/day to nothing which may be playing a role. In a moment of weakness yesterday I bought a can of dip but then (somehow) was able to resist actually having any. I think the idea of starting over was what kept me from it. In terms of the main withdrawal symptoms I've had it's been a lot of brain fog and just feeling tired and down... Anyways, hoping things start to get better soon! |

First, learn how and why we post roll. Then do it. Second, this site is No Nicotine of any kind...period. The folks here are bad ass quitters. Cold turkey is the way to go. Everything this else is just weak-ass, milk-toast, excuse-making. If you want to live free, you've got to take your life back from the Nic Bitch. Nobody can do it for you. Nobody gets free for the asking...you've got to earn...one day at a time. Get your head straight. Get good and determined that you want freedom more than your next breath and you will be able to do this. Flush all forms of nicotine. Post roll. And repeat. That's all there is to it. |

Listen to Bean, he is a professional. No more "assuming".... You have failed in the past because you have tried assuming by your self. Cancer doesn't care about miss assumptions! It just shows up one day and night night! Go flush that can. Now flush all that gum you have hidden, post roll... And get back with us on your decision. We want to help save your life, but you gotta want to do it with us.... Stop "hoping" it gets better and do something about making it better. Make a commitment now. |

Oh, I've already decided and it's all been pitched... I'm thinking this is an opportunity to use my powers of stubbornness for good. 8 days is as long as I've ever gone without nicotine since picking it up so it would be a waste of time to turn back now. |

Congrats on a great choice. If you can keep your word, 8 days will be nothing compared to what you are about to do. ONE DAY AT A TIME is all that matters. YOU GOT THIS. YOU CAN DO IT! |

Hey, thanks for asking So far day 9 has been better than day 8 which was better than day 7 ... stressful day at work but on the other hand it's been very busy so not much time to sit around and let the mind wander which is definitely helpful. How are you doing? Edited by lynstly, Jan 6 2015, 05:31 PM.

I tried to quit years ago with the gum and lozenges. Used to smoke, then dip, then nicotine supplements, then back to smoking then back to dip. 30 years of that crap man... My day 2 is nearly over... Edit: What was I thinking? I should be congratulating you 9 days. Got caught up in past memories. Edited by trigerhapy, Jan 6 2015, 06:23 PM.

Yeah I hear that... it's amazing how useless the nicotine gum is in terms of actually quitting.... as soon as it's gone your body is right back where it started, craving that damn nicotine ... I wasn't craving dip or cigs until I quit the gum and then started craving it all again .... the good news is that at day 9 it really seems to be diminishing.... Congrats on your day 2 though.... day 2 was definitely the toughest for me! |
