This feels like (and possibly is, being as I haven't kept track) the hundredth time I have quit dipping. I started off smoking at around 17 years old, just at parties while we were drinking and hanging out. Smoking became an addiction that I loved, but it took too much of a toll on my lungs. It got to the point that I would be out of breath just tying my shoe! So, I swapped to dipping, and actually ended up liking it alot more. I've quit so many times, using so many different methods, from the gum, to the patch, to the lozenges, that it gets depressing after a while and you think you'll never succeed. It's usually the mind games that get me. 5 or 6 days in I just get wild eyed and run to the store. However. I have read a lot of excellent info and post on this site and I fully believe that I will win this time because of this site. You guys are doing an awesome job here. I look forward to the hundredth day tobacco free versus the hundredth time caved! |

Hey, welcome to KTC. Coming here is one of the best decisions you've ever made. We first have to get one thing straight, you've never done THIS before. What happened in the past were mere stoppages. This is your first and only QUIT. The next step in your KTC membership is to rid yourself of all things nicotine, yes, even the empty cans that have become small parts bins in your garage. You must get rid of every kind of tobacco including cigars, cigarettes, chew, snuff, snus, gum, lozenges, and patches and quit cold turkey right now. Once you've got that done go post roll call (Go to the Welcome Center and educate yourself on how to post roll). Daily roll call is the cornerstone of this website. You gotta do it every single day in order for it to be effective. The daily requirement helps you and your group build two very important things called brotherhood and accountability. When you bring those two things together and use them to their fullest, you will get success. If you have any notion that you'll dip again in the future you're not going to make it. We don't look to the future here at all. We do it one day at a time because tomorrow is not guaranteed. Your quit group is going to be March 2015 because you will hit 100 days in that month. Speaking of 100, realize now that you will not be cured of your addiction at that point. You will never be cured as everyone on this site could easily relapse back into using nicotine but the power of KTC keeps us grounded. Learn to use the site by reading everything you see. Read the other introductions too. They're quit informative and you may see common ground with all these quitters. Make contacts, get phone numbers using the private message or email system and say goodbye to being a slave to the Nic. Again, welcome to KTC, I quit with you today. |

Make damn sure you don't get bumped off roll man. You gotta check back periodically throughout the day. Please don't post and ghost. Be active in your group and come back here to your intro and update it regularly. Keep it as a journal of your quit. You would not believe how much it helps to write your thoughts down then have another veteran quitter put up a positive reply. I quit with you today man. |

This is Christmas 2014 and my gift to myself is quitting! Been quit for 11 days and it's getting better all the time. Don't know if there are any gun lovers or deer hunters on here but I live in Mississippi and I'm all about both. So I've started and envelope with what I would spend on lip shit every week and I'm going to buy a browning x-bolt with it. I would stay quit anyway without that little motivation just because I've made the choice to quit for good. But that gun is just icing on the cake my friends! What does Charlie sheen say? Winning. |

My name is BazookaJoe and I'm a Gun Nut and Huntaholic. Yes you are definitely among likeminded folks. I'm a bolt rifle kind of guy with only 2 ARs and one M1A that hunts West Texas Whitetails, wild hogs, and predators. I just called a bobcat this weekend with a FoxPro and easily dropped him with a 220 swift. A full body mount is forthcoming and my Nic savings may just cover the cost. |

Many fans of hunting and guns here. And yes--definitely consider a gift for yourself as you meet significant milestones. For deer hunting, I am a big fan of Savages. We have a 270 that is a Whitetail machine...and it loves Core-Lokt ammo (inexpensive). Since my quit date hunting was without nicotine, of course. I was nervous about it before, but hunting while quit worked out just fine. |

I hunt with a .270 as well. An excellent caliber for whitetail. I want to buy a .243 in the xbolt, as I have never owned a Browning. Yeah the first hunt I went on without dip was just one big long craving-fest! since then its a lot easier, just got to keep my guard up. Bazooka Joe that FoxPro is pretty cool. I have a buddy that has one he uses for coyotes. Stat, I have never owned a Savage myself but I have a lot of buddies that love them. Wt57, that is a hell of a list, you must be pretty far in your quit. |

Not at all. Recoil is there but it's not unbearable except if you shoot it 12 times with 250s. |
