Hey All.. the concept of this website as far as I can see is pretty well recovery based? Seems we are missing some key principles that helps to keep any organization from frazzling during tough times.. (& I am not saying this one is getting ready to frazzle for those of you ready to fire off some of those fucking go to hell messages) I guess what I am saying is I see a hell of a lot of drama that needs to be left somewhere else other than here. I think we are here to quit tobacco and help others to do the same.. I don't know where in the hell it came from and who brainwashed who into believing that if you cave you are an incredible failure.. doomed to a life of dread and groveling to be accepted again into this fold.. thank God I have not caved in 53 days.. If i did after seeing what I have seen here, it is highly unlikely I would come back here for support.. because when someone does cave I don't see a lot of support I see a lot of shit giving! It doesn't mean I am a failure.. it means I am an addict! For the last at least 30 years I have accomplished a lot of shit.. A HELL OF A LOT OF SHIT! - As I am certain a lot of us here have! I will not make a list because it would sound an awful lot like bragging! Guess what? Every damn thing I accomplished I did with a dip in my mouth! does that mean I am a failure.. Hell no! means I am an addict! The reason I am here - My number 1 motivation! is to yet accomplish yet another goal in my life.. the goal of an entirely drug free & chaos free & dysfunctional free life! I understand passion! I am full of passion! I understand accountability! I also understand - support and understanding! That's one thing about being an addict, the main and only reason one addict will listen to another is "understanding"! The reason I haven't posted in a few days is because of all the damn drama! I am tired of it! Sometimes I seriously feel like I am with a bunch of high school girls instead of tough ass quitters! Come on quitters.. Why are we here?? Gooch |

I hear ya Gooch, but the drama will always be here. Some days more than others. High school girl drama ? Feels more like Golden Girl seniors drama to me. Dunno if I agree with your comment about cavers. Yea they take a bit of a beating when they come back but overall I think they still are welcomed back quit quickly. So much so that someone created a adopt a noob program and described the concept with this line .... The Adopt-a-Quitter program was founded in July 2012 in response to the overwhelming amount of cavers re-joining KTC during the "open" period of October 2012. The cavers enjoyed more support from "Vets" than the true noobs. I think that is a legitimate problem that has happened far too often. Ignore the go to hell messages. You have a good quit going. Don't get distracted by those that are in a constant state of PMS. |

Take a look around, bro. Some of the biggest badasses on here are former cavers. We post a promise each day to stay quit, that is the premise of this program. If you break your promise and cave, those of us who kept our word, our honor, and our quit are justifiably vexed. You're suggesting we should shrug it off and welcome a caver back immediately with open arms, with no conditions? I don't want KTC to be like that. Accountability, honor, and the fact that I'd let down and piss off a group of guys that I have a ton of respect for . . . is one of the things that galvanizes my quit. And theirs, I suspect. Stay strong, and stick around. You can tune out the drama, just stay quit. |

I thought the same way. I can tell you after 143 days, I don't plan to cave. If I did, I would come to KTC and take my deserved beatings. Why? Vets save lives |

Then I would say you falsely led us to believe you were a man of your word to begin with. If you could not own up to a cave, how can you look yourself in the mirror and respect who you see looking back. If one of my kids fucks up and admits it to me, a couple of things are going to happen: 1) They are going to hear about it and be reprimanded for it. 2) They are always going to know where their father stands and what he stands for 3) I am going to have an increased level of respect for them for the integrity they've shown even though that integrity results in them being reprimanded for their actions |

Cavers deserve to be broken down before they are built back up because there is NEVER a valid reason for caving, just addict excuses. The caver not only broke a promise to themselves, they broke a promise to all of us if they posted roll. While the peer support here is an awesome thing, I don't believe peer pressure alone will not keep someone from caving. Personal integrity is what will keep you quit in the long run. And when someone caves they prove at least temporarily they are without integrity. Yes, some on the site do "pile on", I suspect in part because of nic rage. But the more sage and experienced supporters are simply trying to get the caver to understand exactly where and how they failed so they can avoid the same failure in the future. |

I am a failure. I was handed the keys to freedom once, and I stopped rather easily in perspective. My physical pain was Much less than the emotional pain I was feeling at the time (my mom was dying of cancer). All these crappy quitting feelings got all messed up with my mourning. I tried my best to sweep everything under the rug and I lost perspective. My original group is December 2006. They are posting numbers in the 2200s. I posted 401 today. When I returned, I was stupid. I pulled the same Fucking shenanigans these guys did initially. I thought I was special and needed drugs to keep me happy to stay quit. Nicotine was too Much a part of my life. These fuckers with 150 days named gmann and 30 yraddict knew nothing about "long time Quitting". I knew there was trouble after 150 days and they weren't homefree. Why were they talking down to me like I'm an idiotic? Instead of pouting and doing it my way, I grabbed as many new guys to support with me as I could. I stood up for every Fucking caver, and I was the first in line if/when that person fucked up. I admitted my mistakes, and although I regretted them, I learned from them. I learned that memory is arbitrary to state of mind. If you feel good, you forget the bad. I learned that I had to practice for the bad in times of good, and lean on my tools in times of bad. The reason I "get a pass" (as some have put it) is that I have walked the walk everyday. I have yet to miss roll, and I stay active here. I don't do this because of you guys. I do this for me. I know this program will keep me quit and I want to make sure I will never fail again. Walking someone off the ledge makes my quit stronger. Pointing out flawed logic does the same. Seeing badasses like Mccarmo and coach Steve take words I said to them 200 days ago and craft it into unbelievable support is absolutely wonderful and makes my quit Fucking strong as hell. If you'll ever notice, most of the time, the very first post post cave is somebody asking the 3 questions. The bullshit and piling on happen when that caver ignores the questions or gives bullshit answers without fully admitting "I fucked up and chose to use". Those 3 questions are the first step. After that, they'll walk the walk if they learned anything at all. |
|
In the end I Surrender, I and I alone accept that I have and always will have a Nicotene ADDICTION. It is my choice to quit, but I can't do it alone. I get to go down this path one time, I want to do it right. I recognize that my word, my integrety to you is on the line and is only as good as my actions. Caving is not an option in this plan-Eafman 7/11 I am not cured. I will quit one day at a time. I will continue to do what works. Posting roll everyday. To do otherwise would be foolish on my part. You can do this-Ready 12/11 To overcome your addiction you must comprehend what it means to fail-Razd 3/12 Theres a lot of people that come here, especially vets, that WANT to be reminded that they are addicts.-Tarpon 6/12 Just as a building starts with architectural drawings. Your daily quit begins with a promise.-Scowick 2/13 Here and now, focused on today, minute by minute, whatever it takes, I promise to all my bros and myself not to become a negative stat and stay quit!-krok 1/15 I want everyone to be quit. Even the assholes.-Probe1957 1/18 Try walkin' your talk or get the fuck out of my way-A Perfect Circle (TalkTalk) | |

Mike, Your quit is very powerful. So powerful that I drew strength from your quit all day long yesterday. It happened when you posted roll yesterday and left a comment with your roll. Your post kept me strong for the whole day..I didn't even use any life savers. Your powerful post said: I am one bad mother fucker! Smell my breath! No Dip there! Proud to be QUIT with YOU. |

Hey Ladies... I got my teeth cleaned today! That is actually something I've done pretty regular for the past 9 years or so.. Same gal has been doing it all that time.. She was amazed at how well my gums were looking today! Keep in mind she's seen the good, the bad & the ugly.. She's been there through all of my gum graft surgeries.. She and the perio-surgeon both can hardly believe my teeth didn't fall out.. Nor can I.. A few times before the surgeries I practically had exposed roots.. Another thing.. The dentist looking at my teeth today said that smokeless tobacco was the hardest of all nic addictions to kick.. It is the delivery method he said.. Goes straight from the arteries under the tongue directly to the heart! no passing through the lungs like smokers.. & that is why we are all so damn addicted.. it is a KA-fucking-POW of nicotine.. guess what.. WE ARE ALL SOME BAD MOTHER FUCKERS!!! tough sumbitches!!! we are fighting and winning.. Bring it on Nic Bitch.. I have confidence now. I have kicked your ass for 60 days.. now I know I can do it... Confidence is a very good thing.. (just don't get over confident and stop doing what you been doing).. |
