My name is Adam and I'm a Tobaccaholic.

Day 2... (A little about myself) I'm 29 and have been chewing for 13 years. I had always told myself that I would quit one day and figured I would know when it was time. I would chew when fly fishing, driving, sports events, TV, and basically everything else but at work and the gym. I chewed on average, 1/4 to 1/2 can per day. My reason was to "relax".

Two days ago I had finished my can at about 12:30 am, woke up the next morning and said to my self, "I'm done." In the 13 previous years I have never felt that it was time, this was out of nowhere...

My biggest reason for quitting is because I feel that chewing is holding me back from my fitness goals. Other reasons... I would like to have white teeth again, lower risk of heart and gum disease, and sick of getting up on the couch at 6 am on the weekends, after a night out, with a fuckin chew in my mouth. But really, I just really wanna do this for me. I'm tired of leaning on this crutch. I have been "poisoning" myself for 13 years.

So in my adventures of self help, I landed on this site. It looks like I'm not alone in this bullshit.

Any advice you guys can give me I'll accept with open arms.

Thanks in advance,

Adam

Will it be hard? Yes. Is it gonna be a giant suck fest for a while? Yes. Just remember, everybody on here is either: Going through that suck now, has recently gone through that suck or is living quit everyday by posting roll and helping everyone else get through it. Lean on your December Quitters because they are going through the same shit. Lean on the vets, they've seen people succeed but they seen more cave, they have the keys to success. Use what works for you, and make sure you post that roll EVERYDAY. I'm here for you, brother.

If you're quitting for YOU, because YOU know that it's the best thing YOU can do today...then YOUR head is in the right place. Only a total moron (and weak-willed little bi*ch) would ingest nicotine once he truly had the epiphany that quitting WILL make his life BETTER.

I saw you post on Pogue's introduction. Pogue's story is no different from many here. He blew an eight year quit thinking he could have "just one." I'm not picking on Pogue, but the great thing about this site is that we get reminded daily that we are addicts and can never use again for any reason. I posted support for Pogue today, too, but his story helped me. There is no such thing as "just one." I know that to be true whether I'm on this site every day or not (and I'm sure you do, too, BomB)...but it's never more real than when you read a first-hand account. In this way, we all help each other, no matter what "day" we are posting.

Welcome, and I'm proud to quit with you today, BomB. Yell if you need anything. gmann-251 days of better living.

Thanks Gmann for the support and for bringing that up. Some of you guys may not know just how bad that feels...when I quit about 10-11 years ago it was tough but it was one day cold turkey BAM....done. Not a pinch of anything that looked like chew for 8 years. I though I was cured.

You're not. Once that monkey is on your back, he is on there for good I think. He may turn in to a nice little monkey and you think you can be casual friends. But at least for me...I chew that afternoon 3 summers ago and that ^&&%$#)$ monkey sunk his fangs in me and I was back on the train... almost 3 years now.

Never again. Be strong, be confident, but understand an addiction is addiction I think. It's so funny because I live clean being military and pilot and all....light drinker, no drugs except aspirin. But boy does that nicotine do something for me....crazy huh.

Got some kick ass support in here so I figured I'd throw my hat in the ring. I am away during the week so it's hard to get on for anything other than posting roll but if anyone needs me you can PM me or email me... jmiah717@yahoo.com.

I get the PM's to my email on my phone as well. If you leave an email address I can email you with no trouble. Glad to be quit with all of you today.
