Hello all, I guess this is where I introduce myself and all that.
I'm 31, a cop and (as my mother would say) a gay. I've chewed for years on and off. Picked it up in the military and have never been able to shake it.
I have made up my mind that I am done with it for good and hopefully the rest of me will stick with it. I have been tobacco free for 24 hours. It has been the hardest 24 hours I've had since I was in the military.
Let's see todays count is on going..
First I got some hats I ordered and they were one short and the patches were crooked.. the sales guy, who forgot about my order for two months, happened to answer the phone when I called.. Not a good move for him..
Second.. Running errands with my partner.. made me want to push her out of a moving vehicle.. more than once..
Third.. still home with the partner and still wanting to push her out of a moving vehicle.. Now she's made at me for snapping at her all day and I'll probably be sleeping on the couch..
Fourth.. Dogs puking everywhere near the couch I'll have to sleep on..
Fifth.. This day has sucked big time.. but.. I did not chew..

Jojo,

you got it right, just perfect...days will be crappy sometimes, but chew is not going to make it any better. Very soon your days are going to get a whole lot better!

Glad to be quit with you,

I tell everyone I respond to on the introductions that you can't sugar coat days 1 - 5......they suck! I am 27 days quit now and feeling great about it! You can get there too! You and I will always be addicts that have to be aware of the crave for nicotene but it will never be as bad as the first week! Hang in there....post roll call! Proud to be quit with you!

My mom would call you an addict.

Welcome jojo. Before killing your partner get on the site and scream at some folks in here. You're the one who was ingesting poison. Don't take it out on someone else. Take it out on us. I love a good cuss session.

One day at a time. You quit today and then quit tomorrow when it gets here. That's it. Nothing more than I or anyone else would expect from you.

Thanks for all the words of wisdom. Today is a better day already because I quit again. I'm sure it'll be rough but so far so good.

Thanks Souliman, your absolutely right. I live in a small town and am used to having to hide who I am in public. None of it matters here because we are all addicts. Sounds weird for me to say but so true.

Hey jo, I'm day 8 so not far ahead of you. The cool thing is that most of these guys are at like day a billion, but I can remember with clarity what days 1-5 were like. They sucked butthole. But once the fog clears, your tongue goes back to normal, and your taste buds un-screw themselves, things get a lot easier. Stay strong, stay quit, holler if u need.

You're right, Jojo, we all balked at the idea of calling ourselves addicts. It feels so completely lowdown. And for women, like you said, many of you have to hide the dipping from pretty much everybody. Men are expected to be pigs, at least part of the time.

But addicts we are, and the realization and acceptance of that fact allows the progress. Otherwise, we'd still be in denial, calling it a "habit".

24 hours without dip is awesome. 48 hours is awesomer...See you tomorrow!
