Hello everyone. I've been visiting the forum for last few days. So I just decided to stop in and introduce myself. I'm Jay, 22 year old from India. I started smokeless 6 years back. Later I got addicted to alcohol and smoking. I even used to abuse sleeping pills and cough and cold syrups ( stopped it 2 years back ). The only thing I did not try is drugs. It all started in college when some seniors told me that spitting brown on the roads makes you feel macho (??). I am not blaming them, I am more responsible for what I'm today. Well its my 8th day without smokeless today. Now I know - I can live without tobacco. First day was hardest of all. My cheeks and tongue had sores. ( I quit smokeless now I have symptoms of cancer ??) But it disappeared on the third day. There are some triggers when it craves like hell - after tea, evenings and while working / studying late nights. Chewing gum seems to be the best alternative for smokeless. This is tougher than I thought but I won't let anyone get behind the wheel & take control of my life. |

I'm fairly new here, but congrats on day 9 - you need to go over to the October 2010 PreHOF group and post roll - let me know if you need to know how to do it. I want that last sentence on a t-shirt: "P.S. - My life is a sewer." That is awesome. It seems tough now, but I'm finding that my life is getting better and better the more accountable I become to myself and those around me, because I'm becoming a better person. I don't have to lie, hide, I'm not embarrassed and ashamed, and I don't feel guilty all the time. The loss of these things tend to brighten your day, even when you don't have a nicotine crutch. Keep up the quit - |

Damn! You know, you are so right. I haven't felt this good about myself in a very long time. I don't hide anything anymore, no guilty feelings hounding me day and night. Do I want to feel like that again? Fuck No! I am staying quit! |

Ready, In the name of my past habit. I used to chew tobacco, now I have mint and gums. Cmay, lucky you are. I feel guilty for past 6 years I wasted down in the gutter. Some of my friends show off their sports cars, boast about MNC jobs and 6-7 figure salary packages. I feel guilty because I was better scorer than them in highschools.I'm the lazy bast*rd who hasn't yet completed graduation. I keep telling myself " I am a different person NOW. " But why this has to be f*cking me ? |
