So I have been chewing for over a decade, and yesterday finally decided it was time to be done. I have always been a Cope straight guy, because it was so much better for you 'bang head' . I have never taken quitting too terribly seriously. I quit smoking a year ago, and it was quite easy, but I think I just replaced all that nic with chew. Once, long ago, when I was in high school, I got caught so my folks took me to the doctors office to get some help. They put me on Wellbutrin, and it messed with me so bad, I gave up on it after about a week. I wish I would have stuck it out, at that time, without the drug. It would have been a hell of a lot easier. But, as it goes, I grew up cowboying, so you either did two things, smoked or chewed. I was more into the rodeo scene when I was super young, so I chewed with all of them, as I got older I started smoking. But, here I am now. Around a support system, my mind made up, I'm ready to kick this shit. |

Your story is similar to about 5,000 other addicts on this site. We all kissed the bitch for years. Get into October and meet your brothers. Post your promise in roll call and keep yourself clean. Make sure you read everything you can on this site. Quitting is NOT easy, but it most certainly can be done. Make up your mind and get this shit done !!! |

It's not that some people have willpower and some don't... It's that some people are ready to change and others are not. NEVER AGAIN !! "I have been down here before, I know the way out. " There is a huge difference between a commitment of 99% and a commitment of 100% Quit Date: 10-30-2009 : HOF Date: 2-7-2010 : One Year: 10-30-2010 : Two Years: 10-30-2011 : Comma 7-25-2012 : Three Years 10-30-2012 : Four Years 10-30-2013 : Five Years 10-30-2014 : Double Comma 4-21-2015 : Six Years 10-30-2015 : Seven Years 10-30-2016 : Eight Years 10-30-2017 : My HOF Speech | |

Johnny Wadd was a nickname given to me years ago. It was only after I had been called it for some time I realized who Johnny Wadd was. But, it's better than the other nickname. People started calling me dip in my old fire dept because of the constant lipper. Great thing to be known for, eh? But anyway.... It's been over 12 hours... Sunflower seeds, coffee and gum are my friends... I may slowly be losing my mind, but, hell I can get through today. |

Congrats on the best decision of your life! A few things: 1. Get over to the October quit group and start posting roll and getting to know the rest of your quit group. The guys that are the most active in the groups are the guys with the highest success rate. 2. One day at a time! 3. Drink lots of water for th first week. 4. It's a MYTH that all "real" cowboys dip or smoke. That's some bullshit made up by the marketing department at USST. |
| I really did it. I really did quit dipping and you will as well. Hang in there!!!! | |
