Good job Dude! I wish I would have quit at 20. It just gets worse and worse if you keep going. I used to not even want to look at my gums when I was brushing my teeth. It was fuckin retarded. You're at the age where a lot of people still think it's cool and relatively harmless to dip. Trust me and the rest of the guys on this site...it's not. Don't let others talk you into caving.

Be strong this time. Be committed this time. Do it for your future. Don't be a 30+ year dipper like me and decide to quit after your kids are in college. QUIT before you have kids so they won't be effected by your dipping.

Yo, Buckshooter, I don't know you, I've only been around here for 2 weeks or so. I can tell you this, I have some experience with another 12-step program and I used to see guys come and go, come and go.

It got to the point when they came back each time that you wanted to commit less and less of your time to them each time, because you just felt like it was a waste of your effort.

You say you have caved many times and that this time is for sure but to me I don't see rock bottom. I didn't really see anything in your post asking for help or ways you can do things differently.

I hope you are serious and would love for you to make it with me and our other July brothers.

Thanks for all the responses guys i appreciate the support..I have a history of drinking to much than popping a chew in. So I should stay away from the beer for awhile. Bottom line is that i need to be a stronger person and not cave in to the can. i am gonna keep the mind set that one leads to a couple cans a week...But yah to answer your question i always screw up when i party..Which is no excuse i just need to be strong! Let me know what you think give me feedback. I am gonna make it July brothers!

It's really hard to read tone on internet, but I'd rate your sincerity as a 3 out of 10. I'm not going to worry myself with your quit. Waste of both your and my time.

Prove me wrong if you'd like, but you're not quitting for me. Hopefully, you're quitting for you.

I'll give you some feedback since I missed you earlier today!!! WTF are you going to do different this time??? All I've heard so far from you is that you party too much and when you drink you cave!!!! If that's so are you going to quit partying????? Sounds to me like youv'e already made up your mind that the next party you go to you are going to bring a can with you!!! That's not quitting, that's just playing russian roulette!!!! If your serious about quitting, then make a plan, figure out what your triggers are, then avoid those situations, know what you are going to do when a crave comes on, seeds, gum, fake stuff, etc... have numbers to call and get permission from your quit brothers to cave first. And most important of all post roll daily and fucking mean it!!!! Until you have a plan and quit abusing yourself you word is no good here!!!!! 'finger point'

There is the nugget Buckshooter. Had this same conversation with Gooch. I am convinced that all cavers have (at least) one thing in common - THEY HAVE NO PLAN.

I drink like a damn fish on occasion. I can be a binge drinker from time to time. Not a problem for me since I also go weeks without a sniff of alcohol but that is a different point. Point is WHAT WILL YOU DO DIFFERENTLY NEXT TIME YOU GET HAMMERED?

My plan was to text a quit brother. If that didn't work, I would make a phone call and talk it out. 9 times out of 10, by the time the text messages were flying, I was laughing my ass off and no longer wanted a chew. That 10th time was an actual call asking someone for their permission for me to cave. Since I didn't get it, I would then be "talked down". Worked EVERY DAMN TIME.

Surprisingly, it still works when you get past 100 days because the nic bitch won't be done with you after you hit the hall.

GET A PLAN AND STICK TO IT. At that point, it is not "I will man up" or "it is mind over matter" or "I'm stronger this time". It is WHEN this happens.... I will do THIS..... and you support system kicks in talking you down. Damn dude - read some HOF speeches - almost every one of them talks about support and quit brothers. There really is no excuse.
Nevertheless, in the tough moments in my quit, I think of the promise I made earlier that day and what it represents. It anchors my quit to the most solid place in my addiction-controlled brain - my sense of integrity. --Bobchap

I've been quit now for 41 days. I have drank my fair share of whiskey and beer during that time. I've also encountered many different triggers. I'm still off the can
and will stay that way. It don't take strength to quit, it takes smarts. If you're not smart enough not to put a dip in then you will cave again. Sounds like you've already let down two (?) quit groups and asking for a third? IMO you'd better
start splaining to your July brothers why you've done what you've done and
see if they except that.
Fuck it, I quit!

Hi everyone I am back and I am back for good. I don't have a answer for you of how I am going to do it. But I do know that I am very determined and ready to quit now. Before I was just going through the motions and diddn't really feel like quitting. I think that makes a big a differnce with your quit. Another big problem I had was drinking to much during my quit. Well I don't drink as much as used to so that it is a advantage for me . I know a lot of you guys think I am a piece of shit and your saying I am a waste of time. Lenwas I know you are saying that I let you down to many times, and I am very sorry for that. I really have no words that will change my track record. I am just gonna have to prove to you all that I can actually do this once and for all which I will do. I went out today and bought 6 bags of seeds and a big box of gum that is a good start for me.. This is it I am done.. Call me a pussy for caving all the those times but at least I am man enough to step back into the ring of fire. I know its gonna take awhile to get some respect ..Three years of chewing is enough for me...Lenwas hit me up if you feel like it....Buck

Well you better figure it out soon!

It is good that you are determined, but I don't think it is enough. What happens when that determination starts to fade because quitting becomes easier some days and then boom some serious craves hit? You will start to rationalize how you can have "Just one Dip" and boom you are right back to the can. You gotta have a plan! Your determination will get you started in this battle... but it is your word, your committment, and developing a solid support system that will make this quit last.

There is a lot of support here, use it. Now get to it.

I agree with Bman 100%

Congratulations on your tough mindset, but you need to get creative and hit this quit from a different angle. Hell, I screwed up and ended up putting a Heavy Bag in my spare bedroom and I have to carry a note in my pocket every day, but....it works and its something drastically different than what I was doing before.

Change it up, keep your determined attitude, but do some totally different quit practices than you have before. It will also help to tell your subconscious, that this is different and THIS is the one!

I would say 'Good Luck', but that would infer there's a possibility of you not making it and that's not an option this time.

Stay Strong and 'Good Quit'!
