well Today is the day.......had the last dip at 5/21/2009 10pm central time. I have been dipping for only about 15 years at about a can every 2-3 days. I know this is going to be rough but with some solid support and god on my side I pray i can make it though till the end.

Good buddy of mine told me about the site due to his brother being on here and he said it helped him quit. Hope to meet some nice people on here the next few months for when times get tough.....

Congrats on a great decision!

A couple of minor points where it may be helpful to adjust your thinking:

"... can make it through to the end" - there really isn't an "end" to your quit; you begin recovering the moment you spit out your last dip. How fully you recover depends on many things, including how you approach reprogramming your thought patterns (I think this one is the key to a successful quit), the amount of time you stay quit, and the makeup of your specific addiction (duration, frequency, the level of nic resistance you've developed, habits, brand loyalty, etc etc etc.) It seems like a lot of people hit 100 days, find out they're not magically cured, and say "fuck it" and go back to the can.

"Hope to meet some nice people..." - I don't want to disappoint you, but there are a lot of assholes on this site. Quit assholes. Assholes who will not hesitate to call you out if you're bullshitting them, and will hold you accountable for keeping your promise to stay quit for the day. There might be a few nice people too, but they tend to stay pretty quiet. Personality aside, they will help you save your life if you let them.

Maybe this is too much talking for day 1... bottom line is focus on staying quit today, and then come back tomorrow and do it again.

Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. Shit, worry about tonight, tonight. Focus on here and now. You can control that.

man the hard part for me is going to be Deer season and Football season. I have a pretty strong will and I am very confident i can kick this (kicked a few other addictive things over the past 10 years or so) but deer season and football season will be weird!


i just want to make a change. I have a 1 year old son and I have said I NEVER want him to do it...so how can i do it if I dont want him too??

decided to join the gym about 2 weeks ago to get back into shape like when i was an all american swimmer in HS and College. Still stay active by playing softball, golf, basketball as well as hunting every chance i get but need to get back to feeling good.....

I mean i am a whaping 6'3 170lbs but you can still be out of shape and skinny!!!

to those worried about running me off trust me, i can take the beating (not meaning in the ass Dean so settle down) I am in it for the long haul.

Day 2 and the fog is starting to roll in, i just had a 10min conversation with my boss to which at the end of it he replied "WTF are you even talking about" hahah

the good part is i am so damn sore from working out that dipping is not even top priority at the moment the intense pain in my chest and arms are trumping it

Day 2 of my quit I was sitting at home when my boss called with a fairly urgent emergency. I had to explain a procedure over the phone to him and another employee. When I got done, it was quiet for approximately 3 seconds before my boss said "huh, that didnt even make sense".

I can beat that.

Day 2 of my quit, I was lying on my bathroom floor puking, with a fever.

FUCK!!! today was tough....out on the lake all day and no dip (not many fucking fish either which made it even worse!) I was close a flew times to calling it but resisted......

Ok so i have decided to try out the fake dip stuff.........problem being i cant find it ANYWHERE in TN. Hell i went to 6 different tabacco, walgreen, walmart, mapco....you name it i went and no one had anything. I remember seeing the stuff when i was still dipping but now that i want some i can freaking find it! Anyone know where to get some that is not online?

ok a funny story to end my night. I decided to go grocery shopping for the wife today just to give me something to do. So i head out to the store with my list and get started, now the 3rd day with no dip FOG is rolling in bad at the moment. I spend damn near 2 hours in that grocery store and when i got home my wife asked if i got everything on the list.....I said "to be honest i have NO IDEA what i got" hahaha i spent 2 hours at the damn store and could not remember what in the hell i even bought...


(had a few beers now so cant promise all this makes sense lol)
