Carl,

yes that is a good plan.

while it would be best to make today your quit day, the more thought and effort you put in up fron the better prepared you will be and the less likely you will be to cave.

pick a quit day. make a no cave plan. read everything you can on the site and elsewhere on the interenet.

let everyone around you know of your quit date and ask for their support.

Then . . .

On you quit day come to the site and post roll. If not familiar with this on the main page read why we post roll.

then take it one day at a time.

it won't be easy and it isn't for me . . on day 14 . . .but once you get past that first week, you won't ever want to have to go throuh that again.

good luck and feel free to contact me if you want any help or support.

Everyone is different. That is pretty much the way I did it. I'm 45, I quit when I was 43. I had been dipping since I was 10, (little league). If you're going to set a date, set it now and stick to it. I worked my way up to the date, but I told everyone around me so I couldn't change it. Then I posted day 1 in my quit group and read every day. Make sure you go to http://www.killthecan.org/ and read. You will find out what you will be going through and what you can do to prepare for it. Good luck, use the site. It works. I've been quit for 769 days. :)
And we all start with Day 1.

Today is a hell of a day to quit!!!!

You are lucky, you found the site before you quit, I found it on day 4.

It's gunna suck for a few days - but it is worth the pain...

Carl, Like everyone has already said evertones quit is different. Just stick to the date once you set it and never look back. When you do quit sign roll call and then read and post. Go to chat get some phone numbers for back up when you really need help. Look forward to seeing you around. Buck
